Time is Flying

So, blogging has been put on the back burner. Sorry, I've been working hard this summer.
This was my latest project- a photo shoot for Tim's cousin in-law (can I call her a cousin-in-law , too?) and her brand spanking new business- Roost Realty! Go Mindy! Don't they look like they love their jobs?
I'm sure they'd jump at the chance to sell you a house.
Heh heh.

I am so behind the times. I want to announce that just two days ago, I finished the first Harry Potter book. Yes, yes, I know. It was published in 1999.
I'll never catch up with the rest of the world.

Thunder Chicken- 7th out of more than 40.

Last Saturday we headed out to the Starlight Drive In to witness the Soap Box Derby. Tim was on the pit crew for Thunder Chicken.
Thunder Chicken's First Run!
We had such a good time. Everyone was in good spirits and the contestants were like little kids standing in line for a roller coaster.
I couldn't believe some of the carts. I mean people really went all out for this thing.
Standing at the bottom of the hill, it didn't seem like they were going all that fast. Uh, they were.
On nearly every run, someone wiped out. It was exciting and terrifying all at the same time. I mean, com'on, you know most of them were drunk!!!
fastest time, but lost a wheel
bit it hard

This car was INSANE. James Dean. It must have taken her months to get it just right. It was perfect. She wobbled on the hill, but held it together.

In other news, as Audrey and I were driving home today from school, I was singing her a song. She screamed with dislike. I said, "What? Am I not singing very well?" Her response, "Please be quiet Mommy."

I was flabbergasted.

Happy 4th!

first fireworks
I was curious as to how Audrey would react to watching her first fireworks show.

She immediately ran into my arms the minute the first ones were set off. Then, she sideways glanced at them for a spell while holding me tightly by my love handles. Finally, she took a giant leap out of my lap, joined her friend Maddy and hooted and hollered for more. After it was all over she said, "That was fun!"

It was. We had a blast.

Roni and family drove all the way from Chattanooga to hang out for a couple of hours.
Thanks for making the trek!

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home
Yes, we finally made it. We still have some unpacking to do, but at least I can breathe.
We haven't stopped moving since last Thursday!

We can never give enough thanks to the people that helped us move. Seriously, from the very bottom of our hearts, thank you. We will find some way to repay all the kindness.

On moving day, we packed everything in to the house that would fit. Then, we packed the garage to the gills. We still had stuff left over. Several items had to go outside on the deck. And wouldn't ya know it?
It rained.
Luckily, we had a tarp over everything- only minimal damage.

I advertised our yard sale as "The Yard Sale of the Century!"
My plan worked. So many people showed up. It was insane. Never in my life have I made so much at a yard sale. It was almost enough to pay for the stackable washer/dryer that we had to buy. The Kidney Foundation is coming this week to pick up the rest. I'm so excited to have it out of site.

Down-sizing has been fantastic. I feel so... so light! I think I'll get rid of at least one thing a week. Maybe I'll start a "Clean Out Box" and throw things into it- things I never use.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Audrey LOVES the new house. She runs from room to room, but her favorite part is gazing out the front window. I didn't think about it, but our old house did not allow for window-gazing.

When asked the question, "Do you think we're crazy for moving into a smaller house?" My dad put it most eloquently, "No. This house is more cheery than the old one. It's brighter. It's the right color. It's a happy little house."
I have to agree.
I like our happy little house. I like it a lot.
